Yesterday  I came across an article online called, “21 Pictures That Will Restore Your Faith In Humanity.” Needless to say, faith restored, Bekah happy.

We get so caught up in what is bad around us and all of the negatives. We almost always forget the good people who do amazing things each and every single day. Yes, there are stupid, selfish, psychotic people out there & horrible events that happen – I know very well that there are. But don’t focus so much energy on those people and events you forget to be happy and thankful that God has blessed you with amazing people and an amazing life.

So take some time to get happy today. Restore your faith in the world and in humanity. I want to challenge you to NOT waste your energy and breath today on things that would normally irritate you. Be happy. Enjoy the awesome humans instead of the ones that make you crazy.

Not all of the 21 pictures are here – there were some that didn’t make any sense. So I just chose my favorites!

1. This story about Japanese senior citizens who volunteered to tackle the nuclear crisis at Fukushima power station so that young people wouldn’t have to subject themselves to radiation.

2. This picture of two Norwegian guys rescuing a sheep from the ocean.

3. The moment in which this Ohio athlete stopped to help an injured competitor across the finish line during a track meet.

17-year-old Meghan Vogel was in last place in the 3,200-meter run when she caught up to competitor Arden McMath, whose body was giving out. Instead of running past her to avoid the last-place finish, Vogel put McMath’s arm around her shoulders, carried her 30 meters, and then pushed her over the finish line before crossing it.This story is by far my favorite.

4. This exchange between a 3-year-old girl and a shopping center.

5. This note that was handed to a waiter along with a $20 bill by an elderly lady in his restaurant.

6. This sign at an awesome Subway restaurant. (And if you know me, you know Subway is my most favoritest place ever.)

7. This picture of a villager carrying stranded kittens to dry land during floods in Cuttack City, India.

8. This sign at an awesome drycleaner’s.

Plaza Cleaners in Portland, OR, helped over 2,000 unemployed workers who couldn’t afford dry cleaning. The store’s owner estimated that it cost his company $32,000 dollars.

9. This photograph of a man giving his shoes to a homeless girl in Rio de Janeiro.

Sue Drummond was walking her beloved Shih Tzu, Bibi, on a pier in Melbourne, when a fierce gust of wind picked him up and hurled him into the rough waters of the bay. A passerby, Raden Soemawinata, who happened to be on the pier that day to scatter his grandmother’s ashes, wasted no time in stripping down and diving into the bay to rescue the animal.

HAPPY ‘MERICA DAY!

(Pretend ‘Merica is white…)

You know where my happy place is?

The beach… Or the mountains. Really dependent on the weather.

But guess where I ran this morning… and yes, you have a 50/50 chance of getting it right or wrong.

… Guess yet?

You’re wrong.

Wow… you’re really bad at this guessing game.

I ran along the beach, silly.

Sam and I geared up in our PRO Compression and Brooks PureCadence before we set off. Just walking through the sand sucked. And my knee was killin’ me. Joy, right?

When we started off running it was super hard. We ended up running right along the water, where the more compact sand was. Sam and I ended up splitting up because I kept stopping to look at rocks/ pick up glass (… oohhhh shiny things…).

Sam did her workout, while I took my shoes off to go look for more rocks play in the water.

It took me almost half and hour before I caught up to my mom who was looking for glass as well. We slowly walked back to where our towels and chairs were set up, while we stared at the ground… still lookin’.

When we got home, I went downstairs to start my own CrossFit workout.

WOD Indiana

By the end of the WOD, I was DRENCHED in sweat. Don’t believe me? Fine. I took a yucky selfieeee (sorry, I have to exaggerate the e in a Valley Girl accent) for all of you none-believers.

We helped Shane and Brittany set up the reception area.. it looks stunning!

Now we are about to party until the break of day to celebrate ‘Merica. Me and like 30 some of my closest friends whom I’ve never met. WHOO!

We also went to the beach yesterday. Here’s a slideshow!

After we got home, I got ready for workout round 2!

I did, 100 pushups followed by a 2 min rest, then three rounds of 20 jumping jacks, burpees, and squats.. ow.. then I did 60 sit ups at a comfortable pace.

Here is the updated schedule… WOD Indiana.

Here are the pictures of around the house I promised!

The rest of the afternoon (after a long shower) consisted of shopping at the Lighthouse Place in Michigan City, IN. It was a really cool outlet mall with TONS of shops. I tried my best to stay away from the fitness stores (because that’s all I EVER shop for) and stuck to buying “normal people” clothes… I must say, I’m not a fan.

I’m actually really BAD at shopping. Like, really bad. I get overwhelmed with how much there is in stores. And when I try stuff on, I never like ANY of it because I would rather be in sweats.. or comfy stuff.

Or, while I’m in the dressing room, I just think about how hungry I am at the moment (like always.)

What was worse was that I really didn’t eat lunch. I had my breakfast after 10, so when lunch rolled around I was not in the mood for anything.

… the struggle.

On the bright side, my baby cousin Nicole won the cutest and most happiest baby alive.

Would ya look at her? Just look at her.

Would ya look at her? Just look at her.

Happy Rest Day!

Yesterday, I ran a 5K benefitting the Interfaith Housing System here in Dodge!

As you remember from my list, “10 Things I Suck At,” I suck at 5Ks. This was no different.

I kept a super slow pace of 8:23, finishing in 26 minutes flat. About the same pace I started out at for my first 8 miles of the San Diego Marathon. Go me.

The course was the course I used for my 5K, Race for a Cure, but backwards. There was a strong South wind so guess what, the course went straight South for a mile! It felt like I was running into a brick wall. Not necessarily awesome.

There were a lot of stops to get colored up! They used colored water, so if you threw it in the dryer once you got home, it would be permanent. I had them SOAK my shirt and my white PROCompression socks! By the way, PROCompression, I need new socks…

OH. And there were these two really annoying kids that would hurry and run as fast as they could to pass me, but then they would walk. Then when I would pass them again, they would get all upset that a girl was passing them, so they would sprint past me again, and then walk… etc. It’s safe to say I killed them in the end. I sprinted past them the last half-mile. ENDURANCE FOR LIFEEEE.

Here are some pictures from the race!

I’VE MISSED YOU ALL SO MUCH!

My crazy graduation weekend is over. Whew!

Now let’s see on where I should begin…

Wednesday Night: Senior Movie Night in the auditorium. We watched “Here Comes The Boom.” It was SO GOOD. If you missed this night and you’re a senior, I’m really sorry. It was  so much fun. And we got my favorite food: popcorn.

Thursday was our last day of school. I didn’t do much on this day, and I wore wedges all day as well. Ridiculous!

Thursday night was our Senior Campout. This is when the senior class gets to stay out at the school! One of our crazy kids in our class brought an above-ground swimming pool and the Fire Department filled it up for us. There was no way I was going swimming in that thing. Yuck. I’d probably get some kind of skin condition.

Friday night was Taylor’s graduation party! I just got to hang out, talk, and eat. Some of my favorite things! For Taylor’s graduation present, I made him a scrapbook of our past 4 years of high school together. That thing was HUGE. Lots of great memories with one great guy!

Saturday morning was graduation. It started at 10:30. With 440 kids in our senior class, it took a while to get through all the names. When it finally came my time to shine, I got my diploma, hugged Jeff Heirs (one of the coolest dudes EVER), and then my graduation cap fell off. Awesome. I’m going in the history books, kiddos.

Saturday afternoon was my graduation party. Taylor and I hit up about 5 parties before I needed to be home for mine. Mine went from 4-9, when it was only supposed to go from 4-7. But that’s ok! It was a windy MESS outside. Winds reaching up to 60mph. I’m pretty sure we hosted almost 200 people in my house! There was hardly any room to breathe! IT WAS AWESOME.

Sunday was Erin Pyle’s race. Mirda and I killed it in the 1 mile… but I’m not going to talk about the 5K. Let’s just say it was my first bad race. I’m still upset with myself.

So now, enjoy some pictures from my weekend! I’ve caught you all back up, now I have to get back to training! 20mi tomorrow morning! BRING IT ON!
