500m Row, 40 Air Squats, 30 Sit Ups, 20 PushUps, 10 Pull Ups

WOD:

5 Rounds of 12 PushUps, 9 Hang Cleans, 12 Lateral Jumps

I did 5 Rope Climbs in 1 min, 55sec hold L-Sits

WOD:

12 min as many rounds as you could (I got through 5 rounds)

200m run, 4 pull ups, 6 Power Snatch, 8 Overhead Squat

As you may have noticed, I have started a new way of working out besides running. It is called CrossFit and I am in LOVE. It’s hard as heck, but I am already feeling better and seeing more muscle definition in my arms. Bomb.

CrossFit focuses on increasing 10 general physical skills. They are:


1. Cardiovascular/respiratory endurance – The ability of body systems to
gather, process, and deliver oxygen.
2. Stamina – The ability of body systems to process, deliver, store, and
utilize energy.
3. Strength – The ability of a muscular
unit, or combination of muscular units,
to apply force.
4. Flexibility – the ability to maximize
the range of motion at a given joint.
5. Power – The ability of a muscular
unit, or combination of muscular units,
to apply maximum force in minimum
time.
6. Speed – The ability to minimize the
time cycle of a repeated movement.
7. Coordination – The ability to combine several distinct movement patterns into a singular distinct movement.
8. Agility – The ability to minimize
transition time from one movement
pattern to another.
9. Balance – The ability to control the
placement of the bodies center of
gravity in relation to its support base.
10. Accuracy – The ability to control
movement in a given direction or at a
given intensity.

Like me, I’m not super strong or fast, so CrossFit will benefit me by helping me become a more well-rounded athlete by helping me in those areas.

What’s funny is that some CrossFitters aren’t too fond of long-distance runners, they think the body shouldn’t be forced to run for long amounts of time. But when I went tonight, I did fairly well. I was told that generally when marathoners go in to CrossFit, they do really well. Why? Because we da bomb. That’s why.

I’m sorry. I think I just had a mini heart attack!

We have about a day and a half to ourselves before the marathon. Of course, we are going to the beach. But is there anything else anybody recommends doing in San Diego? Let me know! I have never been to Cali. I’M PUMPED!
